WDT and Realtree Release iMap For Outdoorsmen, Hunters
By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
iMap is an innovative global weather information providing application developed by Weather Decision Technologies, Inc, (WDT), a global leader which provides state-of-the-science weather detection and forecasting for the leading media and Internet companies. iMap displays the current weather conditions with text, icons and background images. An interactive weather map shows best, up-to-date radar and satellite images and information relayed through them. A location search function allows the user to save up to five locations.
iMap also shows temperatures, seven day forecasts, humidity, dew-point data, the highs and lows, wind speed, lightning strikes, weather developments and wind directions on a fully interactive Google (News - Alert) map. iMap detects the user’s current location and using an advance algorithm technology along with the best quality radar data and IR satellite, displays the conditions in the area. It also provides severe weather information for any five saved locations, issued constantly by the U.S. National Weather Service.
Realtree Weather, powered by iMap provides the users like hunters and outdoorsmen, with direct access to the conservation and hunting news across the U.S, Realtree Videos, articles and hunting tips from the Realtree team. Realtree is the creator and marketer of the world’s best camouflage patterns, the best way to blend into the environment. Realtree is proud of connecting to the outdoors in its many forms. Realtree provides its customers gears such as, camouflage patterns, boats, canoes, kayaks, guns, knives, bows, books, food and drink, clothing, hates and gloves, range finders, binoculars, bags, packs, cases, tents, footwear, waders, and many others.
WDT and Realtree have launched iMap as an iPhone (News - Alert) application. It’s the most advanced mobile weather technology available and it is fully customizable by the user. It is available for $3.99 at the iTiunes store. Once the application is active on the phone, the user simply needs to type the name of the location and the application drops a blue pin on the map. The radar is updated every 5 minutes and can predict storm paths. The detailed radar information, with its zoom option, can show the path even down to street level. Realtree also has an active Blog to enable its users to stay connected.
The vice president of sales for WDT, Mike Gauthier, an avid hunter himself, said that “Weather is a very high priority for any hunter or outdoor sportsman. With Realtree's mobile application, we are bringing the most powerful, innovative, and accurate weather, radar and satellite data available in the United States, transforming any iPhone into a reliable decision-making tool for the nation’s more than 23 million hunters.”
