WDT Appoints David VandenHeuvel Senior Vice President of Professional Services
Responding to the rapidly expanding demand for its professional meteorological services provided to international governments, aviation and airport industry leaders, military customers and local media businesses, meteorological science leader Weather Decision Technologies (WDT) has appointed David VandenHeuvel, a 27 year meteorological industry and management veteran, to be the company's new Senior Vice President of Professional Services. As such, he will be responsible for fostering and growing WDT’s professional services line of products and services.
VandenHeuvel served most recently as the Vice President and General Manager of IPS MeteoStar Inc., a privately held computer software company serving meteorological industry clients worldwide. During his six year tenure at IPS MeteoStar, David lead a team of engineers that more than doubled company revenue derived almost exclusively from its professional services and software products. VandenHeuvel retired from the United States Air Force as a meteorologist and systems administrator, where he pioneered new weather services and distribution techniques within the Joint Air Operations Centers.
“David is a true entrepreneur with great operational experience running a dynamic and profitable meteorological organization,” said Mike Eilts, President and CEO of WDT, Inc. “David’s disciplined and industrious leadership style is matched only by the wealth of contacts he brings to WDT from a rich variety of sectors, including: the Department of Defense; the aviation industry; international weather markets; and other industry segments,” said Eilts.
VandenHeuvel will work directly with existing and prospective WDT professional services customers, providing innovative weather data services, custom software solutions, and interactive professional weather mapping solutions to meet their rapidly growing needs.
David received numerous honors while in the military, including three Meritorious Service Medals, and was twice awarded the ACC Merewether Award for outstanding technical contribution. He attended the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, was an honor graduate during leadership school, and again during Meteorological training in the United States Air Force. David will be relocating to Norman, Oklahoma, from his current home in Denver, Colorado. David is married to Karen and has three daughters currently attending college. He is a passionate photographer, football fan and is a native son of Wisconsin.
