WDT uses the WRF model over North America, and the GFS globally, to provide long-range, global prediction of aviation weather parameters.

Turbulence is computed using the Ellrod-Knapp kinematic approach.

Icing is computed using VVICE, developed by McCann Aviation Weather Research, Inc.

Other parameters, including ceiling, visibility, and cloud type, are provided in GRIB format.
