Chip Barrere, Program Mgr & Sr. Software Engineer

Chip is a native of New Orleans and moved to Oklahoma in 1991. He completed his BS in Meteorology with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Oklahoma in 1994. After graduating, he enrolled in graduate school at OU and began working as a weekend meteorologist at KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, TX. He also worked at the OU Geosciences Computing Network as a technician.

Chip expanded his media career working for television stations KWTV in Oklahoma City, WBRZ in Baton Rouge, and WVUE in New Orleans. He was also an independent software contractor during those years, mainly writing software for the meteorological community. His software experience also brought him to Pellerin Milnor Corporation in Kenner, LA as a programmer/analyst.

Chip joined WDT as a software engineer in June, 2002, and now holds the position of Program Manager and Sr. Software Engineer. Chip also holds a commission as an officer in the United States Naval Reserve. His duties with the Navy include inactive and active duty operations at the Naval Meteorology and Oceanographic Command (NMOC) at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
