HAMBURG, September 24, 2008 - Maritime Information Systems AS
(MARIS) introduced its Maritime Digital Service (MDS) in June 2007
as a one-stop shop for maritime digital data and services. In
enhancing this service, MARIS and Weather Decision Technologies
(WDT) have agreed to cooperate to provide enhanced weather data,
including global ocean and surface currents as a module within the
MDS solution.
This combined MARIS and WDT data will be utilized to provide
additional services within MDS in the form of weather routing. The
benefit of the solution is that it provides the shipping industry
with detailed, accurate and reliable global weather forecasts,
offering increased operational safety and significant reductions in
fuel consumption.
MARIS and WDT will be demonstrating the WDT data integrated in MDS
during SMM in Hamburg in Hall B6 on stand 141.
