WDT routinely provides tropical storm tracks (past and forecast tracks) as well as wind radii data in point, polyline and polygon shapefile formats. These products are updated every 3 or 6 hours when a tropical storm is present. Point shapefile attribute data include the storm name, past and forecast location date, time, lat/lon, wind speed, pressure and storm-type (tropical depression, tropical storm, or hurricane). Since the tropical storm datasets are provided in standard GIS formats, these data may be integrated with other GIS-compatible datasets and displayed in commonly used GIS applications such as ESRI ArcGIS/ArcView for the purpose of assessing and mitigating the impact of an impending tropical storm on weather-sensitive operations and facility assets.
