We now have Tropical Storm Hermine in the Gulf.  Hermine is expected to make landfall into Mexico and extreme southern Texas later tonight with maximum winds of around 35knots.  Main threats will be heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

Hurricane Earl is approximately 395 miles south-southwest of Nantucket, MA and is moving toward the north-northeast at 18 mph. The center of Earl will move away from the NC Outer Banks today and will approach southeastern New England tonight. Earl is a category two hurricane and slow weakening is forecast during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Hurricane Earl is still a category four hurricane and is expected to pass near the Outer Banks tonight. In severe weather, there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms today from the southern Plains into the upper Great Lakes this afternoon and evening.

For today, there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across the northern and central Plains to the lower and middle Missouri River valley. In tropical weather, Hurricane Earl is approximately 780 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, NC and is moving toward the northwest at 16 mph. The center of Earl will be passing well east and northeast of the Bahamas today and tonight. Tropical Storm Fiona should pass near or just north of the northernmost Leeward Islands later this morning and afternoon.

For today, there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across the upper Mississippi River valley into the central Plains. In tropical weather, the center of Earl will move away from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands this morning and cross the Atlantic east of the Turks and Caicos Islands later today and tonight. Earl is a category four hurricane and some fluctuations in strength are likely over the next 24 to 48 hours.

For today, there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across the northern and central Plains and the upper Mississippi River valley. In tropical weather, Hurricane Earl is approximately 25 miles east-northeast of St. Martin and is moving toward the west-northwest at 14 mph. Earl is a category two hurricane and is expected to become a major hurricane later today.

There are no severe thunderstorm areas forecast this weekend, but strong thunderstorms are possible. In tropical weather, Hurricane Danielle is approximately 545 miles southeast of Bermuda and is moving toward the northwest at 12 mph. Danielle is a category four hurricane and some additional strengthening is possible in the next 24 hours. Tropical Storm Earl is expected to gradually strengthen over the next 48 hours and is forecast to become a hurricane by Saturday night.

In tropical weather, Hurricane Danielle is a category two hurricane and some additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Tropical Storm Earl is expected to become a hurricane by late Friday or early Saturday

For today and Wednesday, there are no severe thunderstorm areas forecast, but a few areas will experience some strong thunderstorms. For tropical weather, Hurricane Danielle has reached category two status and is located approximately 1100 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Danielle is moving toward the west at 20 mph and could become a major hurricane by early Wednesday.
